Never Stop Dating Your Spouse
When you are married and a parent, especially to young kids, date nights often get put on the back burner. Trust me, I understand. On the other hand, after a long week of work, chores, chauffeuring the kids and trying to catch up on sleep, all you both really want to do is cuddle and relax.
Why You Should Never Stop Dating Your Spouse • The Weekend Fox. Relationships and marriage aren’t all butterflies and flirting. Life has a sneaky way of.
One day I woke up and suddenly felt distant from my husband. In between his firefighter and paramedic school demands and the demands of raising our son and taking care of our home, I realized it had been months since we went on a date. We always seemed to make an excuse for not going on dates … money was too tight, we waited too last minute to find a babysitter, or we would rather just stay in.
While the distance felt sudden, it took months and months to happen because we were no longer making each other a priority. When I stopped dating my spouse, things slowly spiraled out of control—our communication, our affection, and our authenticity. While we do spend ample time together going to church, running errands, playing with our son and watching shows late at night, it became apparent that our marriage needed more.
Our marriage needed intentional time away from distractions to focus on one another. While we do not go on dates every week or every other week, we are being more intentional about dating one another and making each other a priority.

Hey Parents, Never Stop Dating Your Spouse…Here’s Why
Once you are married, never stop dating your husband a wise friend once told me. At first, I giggled a little as I thought she was joking. Dating is over now that we are married, right? I could not have been further from the truth.
And how did He love us? He pursued us when our hearts were cold to Him. He continually wooed us to Himself. He offered Himself fully for us to establish an everlasting relationship, one that will endure for all time. Men often stop pursuing and dating their wives with the same passion with which they initially pursued them. And this is a poor reflection of the greater marriage we have with Christ. When God confronted the church at Ephesus, He rebuked them for losing their first love Revelation and challenged them to do the things they did at first Revelation They had lost their intimate walk with the Lord, and He was calling them to repentance.
There is a connection between losing your first love and stopping the things you did at first time with the Lord, sensitivity to His Spirit, daily repentance, etc. When applied to a marriage, the same is true. There is a connection between drifting from love expressed to our spouses and the stopping of things we did at first. Early in our marriage, as a newlywed couple in college, Kaye and I committed to have a date night every week and a vacation together every year.
